Top Area Attractions & Historic Landmarks

California State Railroad Museum

One of the largest and most popular visitor attractions in Sacramento, the California State Railroad Museum complex offers 225,000 square feet of exhibit space, attracting more than 500,000 guests annually. Ideal especially for families with small children, the museum features thoughtfully restored railroad cars, locomotives, a Pullman-style sleeping car, a dining car with railroad china and much more!

Discovery Museum of Sacramento: Science & Space Center

Featuring a wide range of interactive and scientific exhibits, the Discovery Museum of Sacramento: Science & Space Center offers the perfect destination for exploring and learning about the wonders of science and space. In addition to the museum’s many exhibits, guests can also enjoy visiting the discovery room (which features close-up views of turtles, insects and other similar creatures), the planetarium (with simulated mission-to-space experiences), a 14-acre nature trail and more.

Shopping & Dining

Old Sacramento

For a truly unique shopping experience, Old Sacramento is the place to find it. Lined with dozens of small, locally owned shops, eateries and attractions, this 28-acre State Historic Park (once a commercial center in the 1840s and 1850s) features walking tours and horse-drawn buggy rides throughout the area—a great way to get a small taste of the rich history that’s made this destination what it is today. Guests can enjoy grabbing lunch or coffee at one of the local cafes; shopping for apparel, art, antiques and more at any of the boutiques, galleries or stores; or have some fun on a river boat ride, an excursion train ride, a Gold Rush experience tour, or other exciting experience.

Folsom Premium Outlets

Ideally situated just 20 minutes east of Sacramento, this beautiful outdoor shopping center features 80 favorite brands in fashion at rates that let you enjoy more for less. Get in a little retail therapy at familiar names, like Guess, Calvin Klein, BCBG, Gap, Nine West, Kenneth Cole and more, then refuel with a bite to eat at one of the charming cafes or eateries sprinkled throughout the shopping center.

Things to Do in the Great Outdoors

William Land Park

This Sacramento hotspot offers a ton of ways for kids (and kids at heart) to really experience “fun in the sun” at its finest in California. Among its attractions are the Sacramento Zoo, Funderland, Fairytale Town, a golf course, scenic nature trails, and beautifully lush gardens that can be enjoyed by guests of all ages from dawn until dusk every day.

American River Parkway: Discovery Park

Spanning over 302 acres, Discovery Park lets visitors enjoy some quality time being “unplugged” and submerged in the great outdoors. With covered picnic areas, archery activities, bike and horseback riding trails, areas for boating and fishing, and more, it provides plenty of ways to relax and reunite with nature. Occasionally, however, there are some live music performances and sports games that are hosted at the park, offering a fun way to enjoy some great events outdoors.
